I love it!
Great product of Apple. The screen is brighter than my previous iPod classic. It's convinient to put nano in your pocket or wallet.

But there is a disadvangage. When you set sleep mode and place the hold button on before you connect it with your computer, it will be halted and no any response. You have to restart it. Maybe Apple will upgrade its software preventing this fault.

ipod nano
I upgraded from an ipod shuffle to nano and am not very savvy when it comes to technology, but this ipod was easy to figure out and I love it. I had a slight problem at first, but when I called customer support they were extremely helpful in guiding me in the right direction. I only wish these ipods came with a clip on holder rather than an arm band.

Think of 4 GB as a way to limit you from just putting anything on it
I've been buying CD's for 20 years and picked up a 4GB iPod and a compatible car stereo so I'd have lots of music I want to hear when I'm driving. 4GB of space is equal to about 60 hrs of music. You could play the thing for 2 1/2 days and not hear the same song twice. I looked at my 1500 or so CDs and just loaded the best songs off my favorite CDs..not whole CDs. The playlist thing is fun to tinker with too. The iTunes store was a nice way to get specific songs from CDs that only had a song or 2 that was worth hearing (for example Bob Dylan's 80's albums). It's a fun toy for grownups.

OK
Even thought the seller seemed to have problems charging the cost of the iPod I bought, the product came on time and in perfect conditions. I just suggest checking better payment status before sending so many emails telling that to the customers. Thanks for being responsible regarding to my purchase.

A must have....
iPods are the best. Music, movies, books, you have it all where ever you go. I think its a must have! I've never been disappointed with any Apple iPod we've bought.

great bike!
My son saved his money for this bike and he loves it! He is very careful with it.... He is 6 yrs old - so the recommended age for the product must be for safety, but for fun I think a younger group will enjoy it. It takes very good balance so make sure the rider is good at riding bikes already! The older kids like it too! The only negative is that the battery truly doesn't last long, but this seems to be the case with all battery ride on toys! Have Fun!

horrible, horrible, horrible!!! need i say more? dont buy this!
i just recieved this bike (the second time i ordered it) because i returned the first one because it was defective. BATTERY WILL NOT CHARGE! i now need to return this one for the same reason. does the RAZOR company make any bikes that WORK?? very poor quality control! and the worst part is my child who was dissapointed TWICE!!!!!!!!

Battery Life
No battery life. Battery was fully charged as per instructions. The longest period of time my grandson was able to ride was 12 minutes and this was on Christmas day when it was given to him. (To keep this in perspective, my grandson is 7 years old and weighs 51 pounds.) Two days later, once again after a full charge, the Razor wouldn't even move two feet. Needless to say, I had an extremely disappointed grandchild. This has proven to be a rather expensive deck ornament!

Any feedback on replacement batteries as to how long they hold a charge?

Razor Mx350 perfect step up from power wheels
I bought my son this bike for his 6th birthday. He is 60lbs and 4 feet tall and it fits him perfect. The bike was purchased in December from Amazon during one of their Friday sales for 150.00. The first bike we got was broken. The bike would not move when my son sat on it, but the tire did spin when no one was on the bike. I called amazon and they set up a refund right away and I had a new bike with-in 3 days. Amazon has always had great customer service. My son has gotten to ride the bike twice so far and he seems to really enjoy it. The bike is fast but after a few minutes my son was able to control it fine. He has been riding a 2 wheel bike since he was 4. I think that this bike is a perfect step up from the power wheel cars - if your kids are looking for something a little faster to ride this bike is for you.

3/22/08

Just tried to take the bike out and the bike is not working. The back tire is spinning but it won't go anywhere when the my son gets on it. He is only 65lbs. The bike has been stored in a dry basement and the battery has been charged every month like is says in the manual. I now have to call Razor company and speak to them about the issue because Amazon will not atke it back after 30 days.

Love it!
I bought this for my 9 year old Grandson who is tall for his age. It is just right! No gas, no upkeep. Just plug it in and let it charge. Off he goes for 45 minutes or more and that's enough time to make him happy! It's fast enough where he can enjoy it and can keep it in control around sharp curves and down rocky slopes. It has helped him learn the "rules of the road" before upsizing to a gas-powered engine. Would definitely recommend the electric motocross bike for the young rider.

No complaints
I'm using this to back up my Mac. I have Leopard, and I just plugged it in, clicked a couple of responses and It's been working fine. The price was good; it has more than enough space for everything I want to do. It was perfect plug and play. It's hard to judge reliability after only a couple of months, but so far, so good.

Good Price
For about 0 this unit cannot be beat. I use it with Acronis True Image 11 software and make incremental backups of my hard drive weekly. So far it has performed fine and with its small footprint takes up very little valuable desk space. I have found if a hard drive works fine for the first month it usually will not be a problem in the near future. This drive has passed that test!

Does it Job!!
I got this product cause I needed to store some music and photos that were taking up a lot of space on my hard drive. I plan on using it as a monthly backup drive for all my info. The price was right and the capacity is perfect. I recommend this if you are looking for additional storage.

decent external HD
I'm happy so far with my Iomega external HD compared to the "simpleTech" I had which is not reliable. it's still very recent for me to tell if the iomega will go bad as the simpleTech did....will know better in time.

it has power button, connects easily via USB, cool blue light when it's on. it has a little noise when it's on but nothing compared to my laptop's fan but that's not a show stopper. I usually turn it off when I'm not using it but I've forgotten it on for few days and it didn't get terribly hot as I read on some other review about it, it was slightly warmer than usual but not even in the "hot" category.

overall it's good, I have nothing to complain about (yet) and I would buy the same brand if I need more space especially that it has a very good price.

Very nice drive
This device was taken out of the shipping container. Plugged in formated and used in a half hour. Nice looks and good quality. I highly recommmend for price and quality.

The Revolution: A Manifesto

The Revolution: A Manifesto
Binding: Hardcover
Manufacturer: Grand Central Publishing
Product Description:
This Much Is True: You Have Been Lied To.

  • The government is expanding.
  • Taxes are increasing.
  • More senseless wars are being planned.
  • Inflation is ballooning.
  • Our basic freedoms are disappearing.

The Founding Fathers didn't want any of this. In fact, they said so quite clearly in the Constitution of the United States of America. Unfortunately, that beautiful, ingenious, and revolutionary document is being ignored more and more in Washington. If we are to enjoy peace, freedom, and prosperity once again, we absolutely must return to the principles upon which America was founded. But finally, there is hope . . .

In THE REVOLUTION,Texas congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul has exposed the core truths behind everything threatening America, from the real reasons behind the collapse of the dollar and the looming financial crisis, to terrorism and the loss of our precious civil liberties. In this book, Ron Paul provides answers to questions that few even dare to ask.

Despite a media blackout, this septuagenarian physician-turned-congressman sparked a movement that has attracted a legion of young, dedicated, enthusiastic supporters . . . a phenomenon that has amazed veteran political observers and made more than one political rival envious. Candidates across America are already running as "Ron Paul Republicans."

"Dr. Paul cured my apathy," says a popular campaign sign. THE REVOLUTION may cure yours as well.

the revolution: a manifesto
The book, the revolution a manifesto, written by dr. ron paul is extraordinary. dr. paul really is the only person running for office of president of these united states who truly understands how far astray our county has slipped from the foundation of functioning as a republic.
This book should be required reading for every high school student. It is my most treasured book.
His book is concise and to the point and provides the solution for putting this once great nation back on track - follow the rule of law - the constitution of the united states.
This is an extremely well written book which makes it very easy for any reader to understand the large problems we face as a nation. It shows how we have gone astray. It shows what each of us can do. It shows what will happen if we do nothing. He is indeed the only candidate "who gets it."
Our country is on the edge of the abyss and unless we follow the good doctor's advice of returning to sound monetary policy and reverse our present foreign policy we will fall into the abyss.
It really is that simple.
We must return to the rule of law and by all means we must do everything we can to get dr. ron paul the nomination at the republican national convention this coming december.
He is a truly magnificent man!

Glass more than half full
It's worth spending a couple hours to better understand the candidate who contributed the most substance to the '08 election debates. The sheer size of the constantly expanding Federal Government will eventually strangle this country. I only hope the correction, when it comes, is moderate. Ron Paul deserves credit for trying to pull America in that direction.

However, he is not a great writer. Beyond that, some of his historical examples and policy prescriptions are shallow and unconvincing.

A MUST READ FOR EVERY AMERICAN
This book is amazing. It will change your view of America's role in the world - just by factual evidence. There is evidence in this book that is hardley ever talked about that is absolutely astounding. FIVE STARS.

Logic of Liberty and Freedom
In just a few pages Ron Paul makes so much sense of our economy, monetary system, and how people have come to expect nothing different. It's such an easy read that it should be a book everyone in this country should read. Bottom line of his message not a new concept, only a lost and forgotten one. Liberty. A concern of you, me, your neighbor, their childern, our children. The constitution was designed with the intention of the people limiting the government, not the government limiting the people. As we have seen in our lifetime, our government has only become bigger and bigger. This "revolution" is no revolution at all. It's nothing more than the attempt bring the constitution to the forefront of our government, as it was meant to be. Why should our generation and future ones have to live through struggles of times past? Our forefathers already did that. They went through the pains of dictatorships, and fiat monetary systems, etc. Thats what the revolution was. To break free. Thus they created the constitution and the bill of rights. In the last 100 or so yrs our government has slowly attacked the constitution, eroding it to nothing more than an outdated sheet of paper. It's the only thing that protects us. It gives us our liberty. Without it, we will become slaves. Ron Paul shares so much of his education in the short book that it is hard not respond to the message. Freedom.

If you care about liberty and freedom, it's a must read... Incredible.
Ron Paul is a true American hero. I don't want to minimize this statement - anyone who tirelessly works to let people be free, just as they were when they were born, is a hero.

That is what America was founded on. The land of the free. We're far from that today.

Ron Paul doesn't want to run anyone's life. He doesn't want to see American citizens under a police state, taxed to death, drugged from birth, lied to constantly, and working for paper money that, overnight, could become completely worthless.

The Revolution: A Manifesto is brilliant.

Ron Paul clearly explains individual liberty, the concept of freedom and self-reliance, examples of corruption in our political system, views and stances on a variety of important subjects from the position of freedom and individual liberty, and he spends a bit of extra time (thanks Ron!) on Money and the Economy.

It's impossible to separate Money from life, no matter how many times people are told "it's just money". Well, Money is important, and one of the rules for money is that it holds its store of value. Or maybe even grows in value! We deserve SOUND MONEY. Right now, we have "Money" that is disintegrating before our very eyes. Ten years ago, about a dollar bought a gallon of gas. Now about 4 dollars buys a gallon of gas. Ron Paul explains why savers of these fraudulent "dollars" are constantly penalized for saving them.

Education is key in these matters, please pass along the word to your fellow Americans. I personally believe that education in these matters will make or break the movement to restoring freedom in America.

DEAL: Audition - A Memoir (Hardcover)

May 12th, 2008 TikiDeal - Posted in Books

Audition: A Memoir

Audition: A Memoir
Binding: Roughcut
Manufacturer: Knopf
Product Description:
Young people starting out in television sometimes say to me: “I want to be you.” My stock reply is always: “Then you have to take the whole package.”

And now, at last, the most important woman in the history of television journalism gives us that “whole package,” in her inspiring and riveting memoir. After more than forty years of interviewing heads of state, world leaders, movie stars, criminals, murderers, inspirational figures, and celebrities of all kinds, Barbara Walters has turned her gift for examination onto herself to reveal the forces that shaped her extraordinary life.

Barbara Walters’s perception of the world was formed at a very early age. Her father, Lou Walters, was the owner and creative mind behind the legendary Latin Quarter nightclub, and it was his risk-taking lifestyle that gave Barbara her first taste of glamour. It also made her aware of the ups and downs, the insecurities, and even the tragedies that can occur when someone is willing to take great risks, for Lou Walters didn’t just make several fortunes—he also lost them. Barbara learned early about the damage that such an existence can do to relationships—between husband and wife as well as between parent and child. Through her roller-coaster ride of a childhood, Barbara had a close companion, her mentally challenged sister, Jackie. True, Jackie taught her younger sister much about patience and compassion, but Barbara also writes honestly about the resentment she often felt having a sister who was so “different” and the guilt that still haunts her.

All of this—the financial responsibility for her family, the fear, the love—played a large part in the choices she made as she grew up: the friendships she developed, the relationships she had, the marriages she tried to make work. Ultimately, thanks to her drive, combined with a decent amount of luck, she began a career in television. And what a career it has been! Against great odds, Barbara has made it to the top of a male-dominated industry. She was the first woman cohost of the Today show, the first female network news coanchor, the host and producer of countless top-rated Specials, the star of 20/20, and the creator and cohost of The View. She has not just interviewed the world’s most fascinating figures, she has become a part of their world. These are just a few of the names that play a key role in Barbara’s life, career, and book: Yasir Arafat, Warren Beatty, Menachem Begin, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chávez, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Roy Cohn, the Dalai Lama, Princess Diana, Katharine Hepburn, King Hussein, Angelina Jolie, Henry Kissinger, Monica Lewinsky, Richard Nixon, Rosie O’Donnell, Christopher Reeve, Anwar Sadat, John Wayne . . . the list goes on and on.

Barbara Walters has spent a lifetime auditioning: for her bosses at the TV networks, for millions of viewers, for the most famous people in the world, and even for her own daughter, with whom she has had a difficult but ultimately quite wonderful and moving relationship. This book, in some ways, is her final audition, as she fully opens up both her private and public lives. In doing so, she has given us a story that is heartbreaking and honest, surprising and fun, sometimes startling, and always fascinating.

A little shocked about Babs
About a tenth of the way through this book, when she was in her early 30's, I lost count of the number of men she had slept with. Then this picked up again when she was in her 40's. I think it was crass of her to include this in the book. Also, I don't understand what these famous and not so famous saw in her.

The book is extremely well written and that's why I gave it 4 stars but I'm half way through and starting to get bored. She's repetitive in how great and special she is, how she's so friendly still with all her lovers and even their spouses, how she resented her sister and regrets it and how she supported her family. She doesn't sound like such a great mother either although she seems to be convincing herself.

Frankly, I don't care about her and never did. The most interesting parts of the book are her interviews with the famous and that's what's keeping me reading.

Please don't!
My neighbor gave this book to my wife and I was home just getting over a sinus infection. I decided to read it. After about 1/2 hour I wished my infection would return so I'd have a reason for my headache. If you like this book, please don't reproduce and please give up your voting rights!

Walters is a Trailblazer for Women in the Media
Mary Greenwood, author ofHow to Mediate Like a Pro: 42 Rules for Mediating Disputes

Barbar Walters is a trail blazer for women in the media. Audition is a fascinating ride from the 40's to the present showing women's role in journalism. On the early days of the Today Show there was the Today Girl, the one "girl" allowed to do special segments on the Today Show. Walters was never a Today Girl, but when there were three women doing women's segments, one was considered too caustic and the other too elegant, so Walters got to do live advertisements for sponsors such as Alpo Dogfood, where she would feed hungry dogs on the air. When it was her turn, they stopped using the Today Girl moniker. OF course, she was the first to co-anchor the nightly news which she did with Harry Reasoner in the 70's.

She was the first to interview many famous politicians, celebrities, and entertainers. The inside cover lists all her interviews from A-King Abdullah to Z-Catherine Zeta Jones. It is in very small print and there are thousands of names. Castro, the Shah of Iran, Truman Capote, the Dalai Lama, Hugo Chavez, Moshe Dyan, a joint interview with Anwar Sadat and Meachem Begin, and all the presidents and their wives. In the 90's instead of retiring, she started a new Women's Daytime program called the View. She also did 20/20 for over twenty years.

In addition to all the firsts, we learn a lot about Walter' early days in Boston, New York and Miami Beach. We learn about the ups and down of her father's career, who was the impressario of the Latin Quarter in New York but had many business failures and successes. Barbara knew from an early age that she would probably need to support her family, including her "mentally retarded" (the term used then) sister and therefore, Barbara was always worried about money so she could help her parents and sister financially.

We learn about the rr's in Barbar's speech and how that is a result of being brought up in Boston. We learn that she went to a speech therapist and even tried to speak with words without r's and then how she decided to just speak naturally. We find out that Gilda Radner's skits on Saturday Night Live initially hurt her feelings, but that one night when she saw Gilda, she had her do her impression especially for her.

We learn about her fertility treatments; her adoption of her daughter, Jackie; her daughter's rebellious teenage years, her husbands and divorces, her love affairs, and her endless travel all over the globe to get the story.

I am an Art Deco Tour Guide in Miami Beach and was particularly interested in the days in the 40's when Barbara was a girl and her father ran the Lou Walters Miami Beach Latin Quarter on Palm Island where Al Capone lived just down the street. People like Milton Berle, Sophie Tucker, and Jimmy Durante entertained there and people like Jack Kennedy and Howard Hughes went to the show. The Walters also bought the pistachio house next door to the club. Apparently both were previously owned by Bill Dwyer, a notorious bootlegger and the owner of Tropical Park Race Track. Mr Dwyer thought he had some claim on the house and arrived with his henchman to live there. Mr. Walters took a gamble and and allowed Mr. Dwyer to live in the same house with his family. Mr. Dwyer took a shine to Barbara, who was in elementary school, and took her to the track. She was too young to go in, but Mr. Dwyer parked so she could see the horses. Barbara would give him a few bucks to bet and "miraculously" she always won. Barbara said these were some of the happiest times for the Walters family.

The book is long, but I appreciated the fact that she wrote a complete memoir in one volume. I loved this book. First I loved it because Walters was a trail-blazer for women. I have seen her pave the way for other women in so many ways and I am not sure she has gotten all the credit she deserves. Secondly, it has been an interesting life from her days when she lived down the street from Al Capone in Miami Beach to the famous people she has interviewed. With all the fascinating people mentioned, I did not get the feeling that she was name-dropping. She was writing as a journalist and giving us some background on some heady times. I recommend this to all women, especially younger women, who may not appreciate the trials and tribulations of the women who have gone before them. I recommend to anyone who is interested in show business from the early days of Milton Berle and Martha Raye to the Academy Award Winners of today. I would also recommend to anyone who wants to read a good book.

Quite a Life
Walters, Barbara. "Audition: A Memoir", Alfred Knopf, 2008.

Quite a Life

Amos Lassen

I have always loved Barbara Walters but I must admit that I really did not want to read her book because of all the hype. Nevertheless, when my copy came I sat down with it and found myself enjoying every word. It's over 600 pages long so there was no way I would get through it in one sitting; I do have a life and I had to prepare for my summer school classes.
Walters has lived quite a life both personally and professionally and she comes across as a compassionate woman and an inspiration. She exudes class and humanity. She can interview people like no one else can and has done so. Her list ranges from Monica Lewinsky to Elizabeth Taylor to presidents, world leaders, disgraced public figures and just anyone else that has affected our lives.
Her childhood was fascinating. Her father ran the nightclubs known as the Latin Quarter so she grew up around celebrities. She went where women had not been before and became a co-host of a major American news show and when she went onto 20/20 with Hugh Downs her star rose and she became one of the most famous women in the world.
Much has been said about her "adulterous" affair with the American senator but the book is so much more than that. Barbara Walters is an ambitious and tenacious women and even though she says that her life has been one large audition, there is no question that she "got the job".
If anything really characterizes the book, I think it is Walters' style and class. Sure Barbara Walters had an affair with a married man and sure, she has guilt feelings about not always being there for her sister but all of us must remember and consider how life would be without someone like Barbara Walters. She takes the opportunity in her book to let us into her life and even though she has not done everything the way some of his might have wanted, Barbara Walters, to me, at least, remains a major figure in our lives. She is an extraordinary woman and has led an extraordinary life.

Changing the World for Female Journalists
Barbara Walters who has spent more than five decades shattering the glass ceiling for female journalists has delivered a candid new memoir, "Audition," looking back on her extraordinary life. "Audition" begins in Boston where she was born and concludes in New York where she continues to work at age 78 on her ABC specials and "The View." She provides the kind of personal glimpses and secrets she tries to extract from her many high-profile interviews.

Walters got into television by accident and got her big break when she did Alpo dog food commercials as a "Today Girl" on NBC's Today Show. She then became the first woman cohost of the Today show, and after a difficult move to ABC, the first female network news co-anchor. "Audition" provides the behind the scenes stories we have come to expect in books like this, as she made history rising against all odds to the top of a male-dominated industry.

"Audition" is filled with star-studded stories about her famous and infamous interviewees including Richard Nixon, Anwar Sadat, Menachem Begin, Shah of Iran, Henry Fonda, John Wayne, Katherine Hepburn, Yasir Arafat, Warren Beatty, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chávez, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Roy Cohn, the Dalai Lama, Princess Diana, King Hussein, Angelina Jolie, Henry Kissinger, Monica Lewinsky, Rosie O'Donnell, Christopher Reeve . . . the list goes on and on.

Walters weaves a very human narrative of her family throughout the book; a narrative that provides clues to where she got her drive, the choices she made, her three failed marriages, being attracted to older (and often married) men, and her willingness to take risk. There is her risk-taking father, Lou Walters, the mercurial nightclub impresario who made and lost several fortunes; her long suffering mother; the family's descent from the penthouse to rent-controlled apartments; her mentally disabled sister, Jackie, who taught her much about patience and compassion; and the troubled teen years of her adopted daughter, Jackie (named in honor of her sister) who got hooked on amphetamines.

"Audition" is a very readable portrait of a deftly calculating woman with an impeccable sense of timing and incredible luck. Walters has given us a story that is heartbreaking and honest, surprising and fun, sometimes startling, and always fascinating. This makes a great companion book to Katie Couric's recently published biography, "Katie: The Real Story."

Perfect if you only have a balcony or deck
we only have a small balcony, and this product fits perfectly on it. Our son LOVES the water portion of the table...I am really glad we bought this table versus some of the others we looked at that just contained sand.

Fun, but lacks longer-term durability
My children have had fun with this activity table. It's definitely for younger shorter kids, 2-5 years old -- older kids/adults will have to bend over kneel down or sit a chair.

The sand and water tend to easily intermix between the two compartments so that both sides resemble a seaside tide pool. This fact did not seem to bother the kids. If you're hoping this toy to maintain two pristine play environments (dry sand/clean water)look somewhere else.

The cover works great with the bungee-like tie downs and the umbrella is a great feature. If the wind gets to your umbrella, you can easily replace it with a cheapo beach umbrella. Ours has lasted two years and is still going.

Once the sand and water are in the table, it does become somewhat heavy. Trying to move it becomes a problem as the legs are only hollow plastic and their attachment to the base is somewhat lacking in strength. Over a couple of seasons and having moved/dragged the table around a few times, the legs have started to buckle and bend so that the table does not stand level any more. We have placed this in our swing-set area which is not a hard packed surface due to its being covered in wood chips -- this may have contributed to the legs buckling. Still, the table could benefit from a little strengthening in the legs and their attachment to the table base.

For longer life, leave this table in one, level place with relatively solid ground and do not drag it around. Have someone help you lift it to a new location, if needed.

Great Sand and Water Table
Absolutely Love it! We have 21 month old twins and a 3.5yr old. They all play so nicely together and there's plenty of room for everyone w/o being too big. What I love most is that the top actually works and is easy to take on and off. Warning to parents, playing with sand will cause a mess and the kids wear a lot of it! But it brings more fun than anything else we have that all three children can play with together. Great durable product and lives up to word.

great for tot play
My son got a good 2+ years out of this table, and it's still as solid as when we first got it... except for the umbrella being a bit torn from an errant branch falling during a sudden wind gust.
After the 1st year, seeing his preferences (he played more in the sand than the water) and that we were getting tired of having to clean out the muddy water, we turned it totally into a sand table. Now that he's soon to be 5, and almost 4 feet tall, he's outgrown this table (at least for comfortable use) and we'll be building him a "big boy" sandbox later this spring. The sand/water table is still good though, and will go into storage for the next child.

Awesome play table!
We got this for my son when he turned 1 and he has loved it soo much. He is now 2 and still enjoys it as much as he did on day 1. Not only does he loves to play with teh sand and water and the toys it comes with, he now also enjoys helpingto fill it up and drain it. This is a very durable table that has held very well up over the past year. It is always a big hit with the kids when we have parties and play dates. I would absolutely recommend this product!

Great toy...
This was a Christmas gift for my daughter who is two. She loves all the lights, sounds and activities. It is quite portable and is easily moved from room to room. It really keeps her entertained.

The activity table features includes both English and Spanish modes, as well as two volume levels. I think it is a great buy.

My only complaint is that it seems to eat batteries. If the switch isn't in the off position when the child is finished with it the batteries appear to run down faster. I have to remember to turn it off when she is not playing with it. Other than that it is a great toy and fun for kids to play with.

Fabulous
We got this for my son when he was about 9 months old. It really helped him develop his leg muscles for standing. It has enough variety in the sounds that it doesn't get annoying. The spanish or english option is great, too.

Absolutely No Regrets about this Musical Table
I read so many toy reviews before I finally decided on this toy. My grandson is now 11 months and will still go to this toy first and most frequently. There are so many different things to stimulate the child. When he was smaller we left the legs off of it and now we only have the back two legs so it sits at an angle. He can reach everything and this toy is very durable. He pulls himself up and leans on it daily. It's as solid as can be and the bright colors and flashing lights make it very appealing for a child. Great sound quality and two volume levels as well as a setting for Spanish if desired. No regrets on this purchase whatsoever.

Excellent toy
I bought this for my 9 month old and he likes it a lot. He spends hours at it walking round and round around the table, happily playing music.

For the price i have paid, this toy is of great value.

Great toy with lasting appeal
We received this as a gift for our 7mo son for Christmas. He is now almost 2 now and continues to enjoy playing with the table. For younger kids, the table is a great prop for helping them learn to stand and cruise. Plenty of lights, buttons, and things to interact with. Now at 2 years old, our son really enjoys hearing the colors and alphabet song. I think its a great value.

Kids easel
I know several people who own this product as well. We all have the same complaint - the chalkboard doesn't work! I had to sand it, spray it with a new chalkboard, sand it again, treat it with chalk, etc. I would have preferred to avoid the hassle and have it arrive chalk-ready. Otherwise, it's a nice easel and my son loves it.

Calling all Petite Picassos!!
My kids LOVE this and since getting it from Santa, they have really blossomed into little artists! It folds up nicely (the reason why I got rid of our first easel that didn't fold up).

Definately buy the accessory kit and aprons and extra paper rolls.

The only complaint; the knobs that hold the whole thing together are too easy to remove by children, even if tightened with tools. I keep losing them from my 4 year old that likes to take them off all the time. I think I need to order more knobs now.

Love it
I've been shopping around for my 2yo's first art easel, and this is by far the easiest to assemble, the most affordable, and the most space-conscious for my small apartment. my son loves creating a painting every afternoon. get the super saver shipping - it arrived within 3 days by UPS (I was expecting the horrid post office delivery notice), and i saved a TON!

Easel
This is a very nice sturdy easel and is fairly easy to assemble even for an essembly challenged person like myself. My 5 year old grandaughter was thrilled with it.

great toy for years to come
I bought 2 of these, one for my 2 year old, and one for her friend's birthday. My daughter LOVES it, and the lowest setting is perfect for her. I don't know if they changed the chalkboard, but we didn't have the problems others complained about. I must say I didn't even "season" the board, and it works perfectly ( I had some crayola chalk on hand, and she can draw without problems, and there are no visible scratches). Only thing that is a bit annoying are the colorful screws that hold the whole thing together - they are indeed a bit tempting for her (I have to tighten them every day :) but it's worth the trouble ).
The boards for one of the easels were damaged, but Melissa&Doug replaced them promptly so I can't complain about that.
It seems to be very sturdy, and I hope she'll enjoy it for years to come.

Live Butterfly Garden

Live Butterfly Garden
Binding: Toy
Manufacturer: Insect Lore
Editorial Review:
Did you know that painted ladies (the butterflies, that is) taste with their feet and have 10,000 eyes? You and your kids will be fascinated by all you learn about these beautiful creatures with the Butterfly Garden from Insect Lore. The kit comes with a relatively easy-to-assemble observation chamber; supplies for feeding the butterflies (you provide only sugar and water); an informative booklet of clear instructions and butterfly facts; and a certificate for three to five free painted lady caterpillars. The metamorphosis from larva to butterfly takes about three weeks from when you receive the caterpillar larvae (which arrive in a small container with all the nutrients they need). Your children can watch the larvae increase dramatically in size, form chrysalides, and finally emerge into full-fledged painted ladies (it's suggested that they release the butterflies after a few days of observation). This would make a wonderful activity for families with kids of any age, but younger children will need help assembling the observation chamber and reading the instruction booklet. (Note: The manufacturer recommends that butterflies should not be set free in temperatures lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit.) --Rachel Radway

Live Butterfly Garden
VERY educational.... My 6 year old loves it!!!
It is NOT something that can be done without an adult. You will need to help your child every step of the way.
It takes about 3 weeks for the entire process. When the Larva arrived it was alive and well. Age group: Kindergarten and up! It's an amazing project!

Very cool
I bought one of these for my 4 year old God-daughter and one for my 14 year old daughter. They both loved them. A very creative gift.

Educational product well worth the money!
This product is great! My kids and I look forward to seeing the catepillars grow everyday. You get everything that you need to raise catepillars to adult butterflies. I would recommend getting this one over the one that is sold on TV. The one on tv only comes with 1 container of catepillars, this one comes with 2 and the pavillion is bigger. This product is a wonderful educational opportunity for children & adults.

Butterfly garden
This container for hatching butterflies looks great, but haven't used it yet since I'm waiting for the caterpillars to arrive. The cost seems high for such a simple item, and the caterpillars are extra. I imagine I will use it every year as a classroom teacher if it wears as well as it looks.

Great Product, Needs More Food
I am really enjoying this product. At the moment all 10 of my caterpillars have become pupas. I think, however that they either need to include more food in the little cups, should make the cups wider, or they should put food more in the center so their frass doesn't restrict their access to food as much (most of the frass accummulates around the edges of the cup). Before they changed, they were eatting some of the paper under the cap of the cup, which you need. Yet, they have all changed over and seem healthy. I should have 10 butterflies next week and am so far happy with the product over all. Know that you will pay an extra .00 with the certificate to get 10 butterflies.

To buy "refills" you will need to go to the insect lore website or another caterpillar selling website and that it will cost more then the amount on the certificate.

And don't worry when you get the caterpillars and it looks like they're black, dead little hard things. They're not, just give them some time and they'll start to move! And if they really are all dead you can return them and get a new batch (they come with a paper saying you can return them for new ones if there's a problem).

I would recommend this product to anyone. I should think this to be a great this to have in the classroom.
