Excellent light duty trimmer
This battery powered string trimmer fits exactly into the role that I needed it for. It provides the perfect portability and ease of use that I (and my wife) need for our small areas of grass. The automatic string feed has worked exactly as advertised.

The model that I purchased actually came with 2 batteries, which has provided a starting point for me to power a couple of other B&D 18v devices that I have acquired. I am now about to acquire the pole hedge trimmer for use on some of the bushes around the house.

I expect these 18v tools will provide much better service than older Versa Pack devices..... making them look like "toys".

A powerful edger
This the second one of this type I have bought. The last won lasted 6 years. This is better than the last one. More power and lighter too.

Not for Large Areas
This trimmer does a great job, and it's so nice not to be tethered to an electric cord. Thank goodness it comes with two batteries, however, because the batteries run down rather quickly. I use up both batteries and have to recharge before I can finish my rather large yard. I'd still buy it again, though, because it works so well, and I love cordless.

Finely a weed eater a girl can handle
For years I have been unable to weed eat around my yard because I don't have the strength to start the rope pull weed eater. My new Black & Decker 12 volt weed eater is what I have waited for. It starts with a press of my thumb and first finger. Now I am free to weed eat as long as the battery doesn't run out. It isn't made for huge jobs but for we girls it is wonderful. Thank you Black & Decker.

For this price, you can't beat it.
For the money, this is the best trimmer I've ever used. I have several Black and Decker 18 volt tools, so I always have four or five batteries charged and ready to go. I have an acre property with lots of trees and flower beds that require trimming, and can usually do the job with two batteries. It is very plastic, but that also means it's light and comfortable. It's far less noisy than a gas model, and I personally like the auto-feed string head.

If you are a homeowner with a small lot, I think you'll like the convenience of this cordless trimmer. Don't expect it to perform like an industrial machine; it won't. But it will help you do your trimming with effortless starting, little noise, and hardly any pollution. I bought mine just to use for an occasional quick touch-up job, but liked it so well I'm getting rid of my gas model. Swapping batteries in the middle of a job is much faster, easier, and cleaner than filling a tank with gas. It may not be for everyone, but it's just the tool for many of us.

Be the smartest person you know.
As a teacher, I am always being asked for shortcuts to knowledge. My response is simple: "Subscribe to TIME and/or NEWSWEEK and read them religiously. In three years' time, you'll be the smartest person you know." I know that's not exactly true. What I mean by that bit of hyperbole is: you'll "appear" to be the smartest person you know because no one will be able to bring something up that you aren't at least AWARE of and can speak intelligently about (or at least ask an intelligent question.) Nearly every subject is covered by these great institutions--most of the time impartially. It comes with your name on the cover and entices you to open it. Who knows what you'll learn?

I know that all this is available on the internet, but the distractions of the internet are irresistible, I may be old-fashioned, but there is no substitute for holding something in your hand. And nobody can edit it when you're not looking. Plus, the writers are professionals, not anonymous bloggers who face no repercussions for their inaccuracies.

Many learners today are hard-pressed to find time among their activities to actually LEARN. TIME is a great shortcut to information which if used becomes knowledge which, when absorbed, eventually becomes wisdom. Wisdom will earn a decent salary and respect in your community.. OK, so you may not actually become the smartest person you know, but it's a start.

super time
Time Magazine has been a great read for years and years. Received first issue Monday.

Time magazine
We are happy to be receiving Time magazine during the election year so we can read as much as we can about the candidates. Wish we had started it earlier.

a good weekly news magazine--as far as it goes, that is
Time used to be a lot better; they would spend more time on the pages of the magazine informing people about the news, life and times of our generation and even other generations. They would continue to do follow-up stories more so than they do these days. However, slowly but surely, the magazine has rejected that strategy in favor of more frequent sensationalist front page articles and many more advertisements in the weekly issue.

One thing I do like very much is that once in a while Time devotes the bulk of an issue to a retrospective view of times past. Their person of the year choice is always suspenseful; and I like that issue very much in particular.

Overall, if you want a weekly news magazine, Time is one of those out there to consider. Remember that there'll be more ads than ever before; but the articles that they do present are very well written.

Three and one-half stars.

Among the best
Time and Newsweek are pretty mirror magazines with similar content, but I already had a subscription to Time so I stuck with it. I love how Time covers a broad area of relevant topics and then also keeps us updated on politics. I don't read every article, but there's more then enough interesting article's each week to keep me reaching for the latest issue in my mailbox. Time does a very good job of balancing its coverage so not to just appeal to conservatives or liberals.

Yamaha vs. Onkyo vs. Denon
Over the past few weeks I have been searching for a new a/v receiver to replace my Harman Kardon. I have added a bluray player and a new plasma. The H/K was running out of open connections. I began with the Onkyo 606 which I got at Circuit City for 9. It had a great power section, but ran very hot. The biggest issue was every time an explosion or a flash would go off on the screen, I would lose video signal to my projector. Returned it and purchased the Yamaha 663. Very clean and clear through my Jamo surround setup. I won't elaborate on details because much has already been said about the quality of the Yamaha. A week after I got the Yamaha, CC ran the Denon 988 for 0 on closeout (same as the Denon 2808). I had high expectations since it retails for 00. Bottom line is it sounded about the same as the Yamaha. I got the Yamaha for 0 at Best Buy and can't justify the extra $$ for the Denon name. Also was not as user friendly as the Yamaha. With my particular setup, the Yamaha gave Denon performance at a much lower price. Hope this helps anyone decide as these 3 receivers are very close in features.

Nice sound
Just got this after reading all the reviews here plus checking around on-line. Hooked it up with a new set of KEF 3005s and it's currently blowing my socks off. I'm sure I'll learn a lot more about it as I get deeper into it, but first impression is, wow!

Big sound-small volume
I live in a small apartment in Greenwich Village, so really can't play music/movies very loud. As soon as I set this up I noticed a vast improvement in the sound quality from my existing speakers in an 18X28 room. Without blowing out the windows, and my neighbors, I can hear the full surround effect; the sound track from movies surrounds us now, . Some nice features, including a max volume feature.
Has more than enough inpuits, and you can piggy back some. The scene feture is great, and easy to program. I set up 2 for TV, one for 5.1 HD programs and one for 2.0

A couple of small issues:
1. The remote does not control my Time Warner Cable box DVR, but I can live with that (until I get a new TIVO HD box with a 2 way cable card if they ever release them)
2. You can not save the auto setup and make small changes to it (or if you can I haven't figured it out yet)
3. Can't get it to upconvert my VCR past 420p (not that it matters much)

The "Mac Daddy" of Surround Sound
Wow! I've been putting off entering the Surround Sound world for many years, but with the purchase of my LCD TV and "HD" from Dish Network in January I began my search for the best Surround Sound receiver I could buy without sending myself to the "poor house". I certainly understand the phrase "Analysis leads to paralysis" now that I went through the process. With so many products to choose from and so much information available via the internet, it's easy to get squeamish about ACTUALLY MAKING THE PURCHASE. It all paid off with this Yamaha.
I had 2 Yamaha Tower speaker on my 2 channel amp that I loved; so I wanted to use them as my mains for Surround and I have. I bought a Yamaha Center speaker based on size and appearance (I had entertainment center measurement constraints) which sounds very nice and a Yamaha Sub that doesn't overwhelm everything. My Surround speakers are basic KLHs that are quite adequate.
It realy was "plug and play" for me and I did the whole installation myself (my KLHs were already in place as a 2nd set on my 2 channel, positioned for "rear" use in a Surround system). I turned the unit on once everything was connected and basically did nothing and it sounded spectacular. I'm using all HDMI with the Dish Receiver/DVR on one input and my Samsung Upconverting DVD on the other and obviously the HDMI Out to my Samsung LCD HD TV.
I've just touched the "tip of the iceberg" with programming features on this Receiver and yet I'm totally pleased. I added the Ipod Dock and that works perfectly too.
In the 0 range I cannot imagine how this thing can be beaten. If you are in "paralysis" right now over a Surround receiver - BUY THIS. You will not be disappointed.

Sweet !!!
I've had this receiver a couple of weeks now and I love it. For me third time was the charm. It was time to upgrade my 11 year old Sony STR-DE915 with a HDMI receiver to go with my PS3. I tried the Sony STR-DG720 and it sounded nice but did not have switched AC outlets so I went with the STR-DG910. I was not impressed with the power of that receiver at all. I did a lot of research after those two didn't work out and came across this receiver.

I knew Yamaha made quality products so that wasn't my concern. I was mainly worried about the power ratings. Well I can tell you that I was worrying for no reason. This receiver has plenty of power, and clean power to boot. I know I have a bit of a redundancy in that this receiver decodes True HD and DTS-HD MA but my PS3 already decodes it into LPCM but I got a really good deal on this unit and I couldn't pass it up. The SCENE function is cool though I have not set mine yet and I like the way it automatically detects when I switch sources. I did not use the auto mic calibration, figured I'd set it by ear since that's the only mic that really counts. I just picked up my new 50" 1080p Panny plasma and the picture quality through this receiver is superb. By the way I'm NOT using overpriced/hyped monster cables. With a pair of HDMI cables the picture is stunning and the TV info states a full 1080p signal.

The bottom line is that this receiver is freakin' sweet. Plenty of power, nice HDMI switching, HD audio decoding, on screen display is a big plus. The only minus would be only two HDMI inputs but if that's all you need then do not hesitate in picking this bad boy up.

Movado Men's Moderno Watch #0604230

Movado Men\'s Moderno Watch #0604230
Binding: Watch
Manufacturer: Movado
Product Description:
Swiss quartz movement, Silver-tone hands, Dot marker at twelve, Black dial, Water resistant
Amazon.com Product Description:
This ultra-sleek Men's Museum dial watch is the essence of simplicity and style. It features a perfectly round black Museum dial with slender silver-tone hands and a single concave dot at the twelve o'clock position. This is the minimalist look made famous for Movado by American designer Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. Horwitt intended his design to be evocative of a sun dial, with the dot representing the sun at high noon. The black dial is housed in an ultra-thin stainless steel case measuring 33mm wide and framed by a steel bezel with slightly elongated lugs. It presents on a sleek black calfskin strap that tapers slightly toward the ends and fastens with a stainless steel buckle closure. This watch features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and precise Swiss quartz movement. Water-resistant to 30 meters, it can withstand splashes and brief immersion in water; however, it is not sufficiently resistant for swimming.

About Movado
Movado, one of the most celebrated watch brands in the world, traces its origins to the small village of La Chaux-de-faunds, Switzerland where, in 1881, a young watchmaker named Achille Ditesheim hired six assistants and opened a small workshop. He called his company Movado, a word which means, roughly, "always in motion." The company grew and prospered, evolving from a small pocketwatch manufacturer into a leading innovator and designer of precision wristwatches. Throughout its history, Movado has maintained its place at the pinnacle of innovation and excellence in design, craftsmanship and technology. Movado watches are crafted by highly-skilled watchmakers to meet the exacting standards of Swiss time technology. They are accurate to within seconds a year. All Movado watches are sealed and protected against water, moisture and dust, and individually tested to meet strict international standards of quality. A long-time dedicated supporter of the arts, Movado has, itself, been the recipient of over 200 international awards. Movado watches can now be found in the permanent collections of over 20 museums worldwide.

Slim, Stylish, Easier to read time than what I had imagined.
I've had this watch for a little over 3 weeks now...

The best features I love:

- Thin. It's not a hugh honking piece of metal like most watches out there. If you're a thin, sleek man, or you dress that way, then this is probably the watch for you. I can't see beefier guys wearing this watch. It would look out of place with their physique.

- Stylish. I've gotten about 4 comments on my watch so far. Everyone recognizes the Movado look. It helps to boost my ego.

- Easy to read. Yes. It's not that hard to read. You just need to think a little more about where the hour hand is, but it's become automatic for me now. And if you tilt the watch just right, you can read it in low light conditions because of the shiny, metal hands.

Some things I don't like:

- Smudges. The face takes up fingerprints like the front of an iPhone. Can't keep it clean. erg.

- Strap wear. I'm dubious if the strap will be able to handle a year of daily wearing. We'll see.

Other things:

- Not as small as you think. Yes it's not a large faced men's watch, but it is most defintiely larger than a large woman's watch. Like I said before, it's sleek, so buy that if that's your look.

Movado Moderno/Museum??
I purchased this as a replacement watch for my son, who seems to have lost his 4 yr old Movado Moderno, given to him as a gift. It's very attractive and distinctive on his wrist, keeps perfect time and the sapphire crystal never seems to scratch. But, I am still wondering if I was mistakenly sent the Movado Museum watch rather than the Moderno which I ordered. The tag number on the watch he received was that of the Moderno, but the watch looked to be a few mm more in diameter and fit the description of the Museum, which is very similar but 5mm larger in diameter...further, the watch seemed larger on his wrist than the one he had previously. For a man, this is probably a better look, but since we were trying to replace (unnoticed)what he had before, it seems noticeable that it is larger. All in all..the watch is fantastic and a quality piece.

Really good looking watch

I bought this watch for one reason only, it is beautiful. The watch is very slim and light and it is sleek and attractive. It has a leather band that is very comfortable and just fits my big wrist with one hole to spare. The second time I wore it I noticed some moisture under the glass that dissipated. I am worried that this may need repair or replacement. It has never been under water so this is a concern.

It is battery operated so I can put it down and wear it on special occasions without having it lose time. It appears to be a very accurate time piece.

I had an excellent delivery (one day) experience and found the price to be almost half of the mall shop I visited before ordering from Amazon.

great looking watch just alittle small
the watch looks amazing but size wise it is alittle small. The size actually seems to work out well though for business casual its not to much for a nice shirt and kakis like some of the watchs some people try to wear. My advice to anyone purchasing this watch just look closely at the size comparison pictures and make sure its right for you.

Great watch
I received this watch as a gift some months back and just love it. At first I was skeptical as to what might distinguish this Movado from my Skagen, which looks virtually identical. The answer? The materials. While the face and body of my Skagen scratched easily, my Movado shows no signs of wear. It is definitely worth spending extra for a well-made watch with a sapphire crystal and higher quality steel. Also, it doesn't hurt that Movado makes a watch that is both beautiful and understated (nice for guys who enjoy watches but don't want something that looks like jewelry). All together, I am very happy with this item.
